That was Robinson R44. I worked there several years ago, for only 9 months. The fleet was grounded twice, during my tenure, for safety defects. There are weights in the ends of the rotor blades, that have been known to suddenly fly out. When that happens, lift is suddenly way out of balance, that can cause the bird to role over. At least they were still close enough to the ground, that maybe only the chopper got fucked up.

That was pilot error at it's finest ! The bird went foward towards the overhang and clipped it with the prop . Once the prop bent it took the whole fucking tail and rear rotor right off the aircraft with it ! Poor kid and his mamma probably shit thier pants and will never fly again because that ignorant fuck could have wiped them all out ! I learned to fly at the age of 10 years old in a little Cessna 150 and graduated to larger aircraft in my late teens and remember going up with an idiot that tried to take out a rabbit on the runway at take-off with his Bonanza V-Tail and thought it was funny as shit . I knocked his fucking ass clean out and took her back down and radioed the tower to send the police and the ambulance to come get his ignorant fucking ass for playing with our lives over a fucking rabbit . It's one thing if you're a dumbass and harm yourself because of your own ignorance but it's another to take other lives in your hands like this retard did ! Ronnie McRay was the idiot I knocked out and the FFA pulled his license after recording my statement and a witness in the tower that saw him dip the wing to hit the rabbit . pablosdog pilots should absolutely make that kind of money.they are taking peoples lives in their hands everytie they go up.you must be drug and alcohol free,obviouslly especially while flying,and it takes a decent amount of training.if you paid every joe schmo 40 to 50,000 dollars a year to fly plains irresponsible numbskulls would be crashing planes left and right killing innocent people.if you pay them well and make it a hard job to get you keep the shit out and the responsible ones in.tons of law siuts because of iresponsible pilots would cost a lot more than high salaries for a few to keep the public safe.think about it.

And Pablo , David had to fly for Fed-Ex for almost 6 years every day to put in enough hours to even be considered by Delta and then flew Co-Pilot for 2 years before he ever got the controls ! dune, you seem like a hard working guy to me, so I'm gonna argue that while I do understand it is a pretty difficult job 175k just seems out of wack. maybe it's the only job that is not out of wack and many other jobs that I'm exposed to are severely underpaid. carnut I can absolutely guarantee that David did not fly any where every day. FAA rules prohibit pilots from flying more than 50 hours a month. In that same amount of time most of us working stiffs will work 170 hours. The flight hours these "poor fuckers" have to acheive is about 1/100th the number of hours the average guy working in a corporate world would have to put in to make that kind of money.

Okay pablosdog , the FAA ruled in June of 1985 that any commercial pilot could only fly 16 hours in a 24 hour period time frame and that rule and regualtion has never been modified to date ! In easy for YOU to understand terms , ANY PILOT CAN FLY EVERY FUCKING DAY !!!!!!!!!!

you guys should get some things straight before you start going off.. I am a commercial helicopter pilot, low time 100 hours just graduated from school which i paid 70,000 to get.. pilots can and do work upto 15 hours a day in the summer and spend months at a time in bush camps in parts of the earth that are cold and day light 24 hours a day.. we can work upto 120 hours in one month but usually timex out after 2 weeks because we are also aloud to fly for 60 hours in any 7 consecutive days.. do a couple autorotations and you will see why we get paid the way we do.. if something happens to your helicopter and you have maybe 10-15 seconds depending on the height your flying at to get passengers settled, make a may day call, asses a situation, find a spot to safely autorotate and turn the machine into wind or your gonna kill someone.. pilots especially helicopter deserve alot of respect it is very humbling to watch a video like this because things can go wrong in a heart beat and the pilot is the only person that ultimatley seals your fate.. other then that this video is pretty sick..
I think you just repeated exactly what I was saying heli so I know you weren't directing that to me ! Not to say anything about your piloting skills but I wouldn't go up with a helicopter pilot if I knew he only had 100 hours under his belt in documented flight time and you must fly for a small commercial company that doesn't fly passengers other than it's employees or work crews that have signed insurance waivers . If you can't watch this clip and see pilot error then you need to either watch it closer and pay attention to the aircrafts horizontal foward motion after lift which should have NEVER been allowed so close to the hanger , or give up flying before you kill yourself ! PILOT ERROR probably because of LOW HOURS such as YOURSELF ?

no i do totally agree that it is pilot error.. the hanger door should have been closed prior to take-off, induced flow into the rotor system from the building was probabley the culprite here.. as a low time pilot you dont get to fly good jobs right away, it is mostly ferry rides bringing helicopters that were just serviced or need to be seviced in and out of bush camps and such.. i have an interview for a company to fly infrared pipeline surveying this week.. boring work but it builds hours.. i flew solo at 16 hours, and cant fly passengers until i get my ppc from transport canada.. it is a long hard road to get the hours, but i can safely operate and recover from almost any failure a helicopter could throw my way..
I wish you the best of luck my friend because if a helicopter has any major mechanical failure that effects control , 8 times outa 10 that aircraft is going DOWN and it will be a violent decent and usually fast ! I pray it never happens to you or any passengers you may have . I have a close friend that did 3 tours in Vietnam as a Medivac door gunner and he went down in 2 crafts and told me the ONY REASON he survived is that he jumped both times as far out as he could muster to clear the rotor just before impact . He was the only survivor both times but he shows the mental scars that go with being that lone survivor to this day . I agree that the doors should have been closed on the hanger also but that aircraft should have never been close enough for induced flow to take place . Alot of new pilots die as you already know shortly after flight begins due to the fact that they get excited and simply do not pay attention to thier surroundings . Seasoned pilots ALWAYS keep an eye out for the newbies and give them plenty of room and I'll bet you already know that too ! LOL How many times have you got the "seassoned stare" ?
