Truck On Fire At The Gas Pump

Hey Earl you might wanna switch the octane rating on that gas you've been pumping lately. Nah Jim I reckon I'll be alright, last time my truck caught on fire I definitely learned my lesson...

Always fill a can on the ground , not in the bed of a truck....static charges are a bitch .

For the people above me asking how this happened, I am going to spell it out for you.

YOu know that gas fumes are flamible, right? Also, you know what static shock is, right? Well, when you rub two things together they make a static charge. In this case it was from the gas itself running over a rubber hose.

The idiot in the video didn't take the can out of his truck while filling it. The truck insulated the can from the ground and prevented the static charge from disapating like it should. So, when the charge got large enough it arked and ignited the gas fumes.

ALWAYS put your gas can on the ground when filling it.

Moral of the story is, if you're going to fuel up your vehicle then don't let this dickhead help

you dont get static from gas going through a rubber hose you dumb bastard. rubber is an insulater it cant make electric. when was the last time youve seen a rubber generator. that dumb ass got the static charger from the plastic gas can moving on the plastic bed liner

    Paddedwalls,

Rubber is an insulater, but you can still build up a static charge in it. I suggest you take a physics class. Try rubbing a glass rod over silk (both VERY good insulators). That will build up a great static charge.
