Check Out My Amputated Foot

Don sure seems to be pretty excited about having his foot amputated. I wonder what he's going to do with it now. It could come in real handy scaring all the neighborhood kids. He could tie it to some rope and swing it around, kicking people with it. I guess he's got all kinds of options now.

Why was he wearing gloves with "his foot?"

Most likely because it was infected. I can only guess but he most likely was diabeteic with very poor control, lost the circulation in his lower extremities and got a minor injury that then became infected and wouldn't heal. Seen it a million times.

@Dozer67. It seems odd I'll agree but I'm sure there's a strict policy regarding asepsis. In fact, I can't imagine any facility allowing the patient to handle his amputated limb considering the laws regarding hazardous waste are so stringent.

Think about it; how long post-op must this be? He was under general anesthesia and the full recovery period is several hours long. That limb should have been long gone by this time. I'd expect to get into some serious legal trouble from this.

    Adding to my last post^^^

If I'm right about his poorly managed diabetes, he seems way too proud of himself. Diabetes sucks and type 1 cannot be blamed on the patient but it's not that difficult a disease to manage if you're not a lazy $#%&. The fact that this kind of thing can largely be avoided makes me freaking crazy watching it.

Say what you want about lazy whatever. Diabetes doesn't give you a break, anytime 24/7/365. Hard to perfectly control something every day your whole life. I've been type 1 for nearly 30 years and so far everything still works, but it is not easy.
