I think his chute may have opened a bit prematurely. Well, it's better than not opening up at all. It does suck that he doesn't get any free fall time though.
I'm thinking somebodys chute got tampered with, maybe by the guy with the camera???
lol oh snap
April Fools Boooooooob
You only get so long to tie your boot, then you are going out.
That WAS supposed to be a static line jump; meaning, you have less than five seconds of free fall before your main chute gets pulled open for you and envelops, The jumper looks up to ensure he has a good chute if not he cuts away and goes for his reserve chute -IF HE HAS ENOUGH TIME. Whoever the jumpmaster was (him?) will have some explaining to do to his supervisor and commander and have fun filling out the accident/mishap report. I am not sure, but if he was the jumpmaster and he doesn't give a thumbs up for the rest of the stick to jump, then NO ONE jumps and you just wasted a sortie. All those dudes that were gearing up to jump will have to reschedule to maintain their currency ratings. There is a possibility that some of them might fall out of currency and that affects their salaries more than anything else; as paratroopers you get jump pay- a small incentive pay for trusting some silk and paracord while jumping out of a perfectly good airplane without their currency rating staying current will cause them to come up short on their expense budgets for the month...Suspect that chute that came out was his reserve but I can't be sure to be 100% accurate. I was just a leg, but I worked with those guys when I was back at Bragg. Anyone jumpers out there that can corroborate?
i think that was more of a para... SHOOT!
be, all that you can be, in a wheelchair
yup thats a broken collar bone at that angle!
@rockiron: Either that and/or some whiplash action to boot. The report I got was that he was approx 30 miles off the DZ but he did survive. I believe he was the jumpmaster. If you go to youtube and look at other videos like this, the JM inspects the DZ, inspects the side of the aircraft to ensure there is no FOD that could fuck up someone's jump and then is supposed to give a thumbs up for the jump. Then it is your standard Hollywood green light for the stick to jump. It is HIGHLY orchestrated and rehearsed and the commands the JM gives is what the lead man/woman is listening for. So if the JM isn't there, I don't believe that stick left the aircraft. That is a lot of fuel they just wasted. But at least that soldier will have a 'war story' to tell to his kids and grandkids one day...
it would be the equivalent of pulling your chute at 250 knotts. gonna hurt like fuck. average speed is 92 knotts for chute deployment.
I bet he suffers from premature ejaculation problems, too.
Wendi I gave you a +1 for that.
Now be a good girl and say thankyou Mr English....
