Dutchman Sjaak Burger was shot in Panama on Saturday. He was shot in the head in a restaurant by an unknown gunman. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs first reported the man was dead, now they are saying he is currently still alive. The gunman and his helper were able to escape.
According to the Public Prosecutor, Burger. allegedly committed several assassinations in the underworld. He is the second Dutch assassin to be shot recently. Ali Akgun was shot and killed in Istanbul on December 24th.
Burger had a long criminal record. In 1995 he was sentenced to 8 years in prison for a murder in 1994. He fired shots in a cafe in Badhoevedorp after an argument. A man was killed and another was seriously injured. After his release, Burger built up a reputation as an arms dealer.
