How Not To Change A Tire

Holy shit, that tire explosion lifted him right off his fucking feet. That will wake you up in the morning. Or put you to sleep. I hope he doesn't plan on using this as an excuse to sleep on the job. Get back to work.

Split rims are not illegal in the united states. I used to do them all the time. This stupid fuck didnt let the air out amd then slammed the hub end on the ground with either a cracked ring, an improperly seated ring, or a rotted rim lip.

Gotta let the air out first before you do anything. Exploding truck tires have enough force to lift a caddy 3' off of the ground vertically.

Great. ISIS is now recruiting tires as suicide bombers.

How the fuck did that happen exactly?

@truckingman : Truck tires w/split rims have any-wheres between 85 and 110psi in them. Even at that pressure they are highly explosive.

@big_daddy305 : The tire was inflated when he took it off the truck. The lock ring was obviously broken or not seated properly and when he dropped the rim on the hub the lock ring dislodged and all the pressure blew the tire out the lock ring side like a rocket. When it blows you can see the lock ring hit the ground and roll away.

@urapnes1701d as a young mechanic you had to do the grunt work but never did they make me work on a split rim.

@dozer67 : I've done countless ones when i repaired equipment for Norfolk Southern. Hundreds of trailers and chassis with flats, blow outs, slick treads, all of them were split rims.
