I've had several monitor lizards and they will fuck you up. The best one was a nile monitor - the largest after the komodo dragon and the worst was a black throat monitor. That thing was just plain mean- even meaner than a African rock python

monitor lizards have agents in the saliva that are meant to destroy, necrotize, tissue note how he just leaking blood like a cracked oil pan,its as if though he got tagged by a rattler. Hell, he must know something about that, keeping such a animal.

A lizard's mouth is LOADED with bacteria. I knew that was going to happen as soon as I saw the first frame...why he wasn't pumped up on antibiotics escapes me. That GoFundMe account better be so they can harvest that lizard and have it stuffed!

thats a fucking komodo dragon dude. theyll bite something and follow it, if its big enough to walk, and wait for the bacteria that lives in their mouth to take hold...and the feast begins. doesnt get much more hardcore than that

There is no denying that a bite from any species of monitor lizard can be downright painful, as monitors have been known to crush bones in humans. Beyond the danger to the skin, bone, and surrounding tissue, monitor lizard bites are also poisonous, resulting in swelling and excessive bleeding

The truth about monitors-- I'm not here to start a fight but it seems there are misconceptions regarding these lizards. It is not absolute that ALL monitors are venomous. { it should be noted that poisonous and venomous are often confused. Poison is ingested, venom is injected by animal/insect} The Komodo Dragon is the only species technically classified as venomous and even then, it is not absolute. All other monitors are considered by the herpetology community as highly bacterial. An Australian study concluded all to be venomous, but they are about the only one.

@rareranking-- there is no antivenin { not anti-venom } available for any monitor lizard bite, Komodo included. Broad spectrum antibiotics are all that is given along with intense cleansing.

Venom, such as from a snake, is actually a modified stomach acid that starts breaking down a food item before actual ingestion. Bacteria is simply that.

Being a long standing member of the herpetology community and having a number of monitors of varied species, ages, sizes, I have been chewed on more than a few times. Other than slight bacterial infections and sutures, nothing worse has happened. I have all my fingers, toes and both ears. It is also worth sharing that monitor lizards are very popular pets in North America and not one single death has ever been attributed to a monitor lizard bite-- despite the millions in the trade. And, no govt classifies monitors as venomous and no venomous reptile permit is required to have one. The Komodo being an exception-- but only then due to its CITES classification as an endangered species
