Pretty cool accident to watch. 18 wheeler loaded with gravel rolling over right in front of you must be some scary shit. I'm sure the guy in the car will need to have his car detailed after this.
@truckingman Please explain what he did wrong!
I don't think it was gravel he was hauling, by the smell of it he was hauling LOGS.
Recycling on the side, so I assume its scrap metal, and possibly overloaded, top heavy or an old trailer, its hard to tell, but you can see just as its happening the 5th wheel plate is possibly bending and coming away from the trailer and the load is making the situation worse, add to that a slight bend in the road, the landing gear hits the road and finishes the situation. It doesn't explain why he was straddling 2 lanes in a construction site though.
blew an air line..trailer brakes applied..too much weight and brakes grabbed on the road and ripped the axle off the trailer..flipped it as weight shifted
That was so close.. I shit my pants....
@stenchfart gets my +1 for best explanation..
Funny that happened while listening to the traffic report...annnnnd he's now delayed 10 hours....
Darkmadness I can not really tell you the true cause of this accident. I believe that there is some odject in the road were the second for the left lane divider line, see at four seconds before the semi runs over this object, that causes or rips one of the dump trailer's axes from under the dump trailer. Can anyone help me identify this odject?
Both of you Twofords and Stenchfart have better explanations then what I can produce.
Sincerely, Robert Hallock
ride it till the wheels fall off
This is why we can't have nice things.
Looks like a spring or hanger failure of the rear axle causing the axle to break loose on one side then twisting until the axle is ripped away this in turn pulls the air lines loose and causes the brakes to lock up. The remaining single axle could not support the weight and over she goes. At the 5 second mark you can hear a thump (axle being torn loose) then at the 6 second mark you hear the brakes locking up. I worked on semi trailers for 4 years in my younger day and checking for broken springs and hangers was part of our inspections. I did catch a couple of broken leafs during my inspections but never a hanger.
Better update that traffic report
I'm not a mechanician but I can say something is not going like it should... Well, was not going good.
Like how the rear axel shows up a bit late....lol
