A student killed himself by jumping 200 foot from a hotel room after streaming a "suicide tutorial" on Facebook Live.
He leapt out of the 19th storey window after posting the video on social media which quickly went viral.
Arjun Bharadwaj, 24, even tagged the hotel in his Facebook post which went online moments before he threw himself to his death.
The Facebook Live video captures the last moments of Arjun's life, in his room at a five-star hotel in the Indian city of Mumbai, capital of the western state of Maharashtra.
Staff at the Hotel Taj Lands End rushed to the room after spotting his Facebook Live video – but they arrived too late.
Sanjay Kadam, Assistant Commissioner of Police said: "He broke the glass of the hotel room window before jumping.
"We found nine short notes in his room indicating he was disturbed."
College student Arjun was suffering from a drug addiction at the time of his death.
In the Facebook Live video, he can be seen wearing a white robe, while drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes.
Mumbai Police have asked viewers not to repost the footage which has already been shared widely on Facebook.
Deven Bharti, Joint Commissioner of Police, said: "It is disturbing and can have a huge impact on young minds."
Arjun was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries, his family are travelling from his home city of Bengaluru in India's southern Karnataka state, to reclaim his body.
Police are now investigating his death, and are checking his social media profile for clues.
