WTF Bible?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that most of you aren't church going Christians. I'm part of that group myself. However, with that being said, the Bible's got some interesting passages in it. For instance, 2 KINGS 6:29, "So we boiled my son, and did eat him and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him and she hath hid her." Boiling and eating your kids? WTF Bible? You scarey! I don't agree with that shit, however I do agree with 2 Timothy 2:11-12: "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." So what's your take on the Bible? Mine is that woman shall make sammichs when beckoned to! Correct me if I'm wrong. --Henry M.

As far as I recall, the "Bible" is a story about a mans life. Trials, tribulations, and death. Never once, as far as I remember, was it ever meant to be a "law of laws" to be followed like a freaking sheep. Also, it has been "interpreted" over and over millions of times. Each rendering is different, with different laws, and different meanings of everything. So now, its just a book of words, with no story in it.

The Bible is man's religion. I am spiritual myself. Man created the Bible to invent fear into our lives! It couldn't be further from the truth! I dont believe you have to be saved from sin in order to go to " heaven" when you die! Death is just a transition into another reality!

Sparkles, not MUCH offense here, but I just here that "I’m not a Christian but I am spiritual" crap way too often! I just noticed this but take out the r,i,u,a, and l, What does that leave? When I was a child my grandmother told me if ever I was wondering how to handle a situation it maybe a easy solution. Ask yourself, "What would Jesus do?". Easy solution especially when wondering if I should get a "Mounds" or a "Almond Joy".

This statement coming from a man whose grandfather was a mormon, and whom, for a time, was also a mormon, until I discovered that you don’t need a book, or a building, to love God. God is love..God does not know hate. God is everything, We are God, if we choose to be. Every element that makes up the cosmos exists on earth, and therefore, within us (This is scientific fact, by the way). We are eternally tied to the universe, through death, we experience rebirth when our bodies return to the earth and are broken back down into the basic elements of creation. We are already Gods. How we choose to behave as Gods is what shapes our reality. If we truly want peace, there will be peace. If we want war, there will be war. If we want balance, we have to make it happen.

Wow killtacular! One of the best posts ever!! Yup, we are made up of maily the results of Super-novas1 I look at gold, silver, pretty much every element differently now. Since they were made by a exploding star billions of miles away. Then the star shrank in size only but not in volume. It’s probably a "black hole" now. Isn’t it amazing that a TABLESPOON of that star will weigh million of pounds!! I can’t even imagine it! Think about us starting a astronomy thread when the forums return! Show the people that haven’t been interested in it the picture of a nebula. I can’t remember the name of it now but the length from top to bottom was something like 57 trillion miles long! No "fish story’ here. Just go to Hubble’s pics and check it out. The beauty is impossibe to over state!! Hey kill have you ever seen the "deep space" photo Hubble took? It’s almost to the beginning of time itself. Billions of ancient stars that were actually gone when the photos were taken. Damn that is just perplexing as hell!!
