AC Question

on 04.15.2013

With 100,000 people coming to crazyshit daily, I have to assume there is a A/C guy/girl in the bunch that can answer my question. My return had gotten a clogged drain line and leaked into my return box, I think that's what you call it. Well, all the fiberglass board got wet in there, and smelled nasty. I ripped it all out , sprayed it down with Clorox, and now I am waiting for the wood to dry. My question is, do I need to put new fiberglass board in there? Or just tape it up with that the box with aluminum tape and call it a day? Mind you any work I do does involve beer. --Jay

Not HVAC, but I flipped houses after Katrina, and do most of my own remodeling out of hobby....that being said. I would spend the few bucks to replace it. Especially if it handles air. If mold pops back up in a few months you may not be able to notice it and it could be a problem. For the small dollar amount it’s worth the peace of mind and doing the job correctly. Just my 2 cents though.

Bro u should put that fiberglass back on that return . But first flush the drain line or check if u have a water pump. Then put that fiberglass back. U wouldent want it to happen again ..

AC? Shit my furnace is still on. But Whobe is right. Or, if you drink enough beer, you could use the beer boxes for your ductwork.
