So, the prairie dog picture from yesterday got me thinking after I read some of the comments. What's your guys take on rifle calibers and long distance shooting. I'm a huge fan of the .308 and the .338 Lapua Magnum. However, I have the chance to pick up a Remington 700 BDL in 30-06 for a good price and am thinking of turning it into a precision .300 Win Mag. What are your guys thoughts on that? I don't think I'd buy a .300 brand new as I feel that just going straight to .338 would be the way to go. With a .300 Win Mag you get an extra 200-300 yards of effective range and a .338 Lapua Mag can get you upwards of 600 additional yards. However, reloading components for the .300 Win Mag are easier to find. So give me your thoughts and advice my fellow Crazyshooters. Love always, --Henry M.
