Sleep Apnea Strikes Again.
A few months ago I had gone to a sleep study to find out why I was so fucking tired all the time. And not just hey I'm gonna take a nap and be back in the action. It was I would wake up, exercise, eat breakfast and be fucking ready for bed. Anywho, I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. Now there are quite a number of options here, some I liked, some I didn't like, and some I was so-so on. But the truth of the matter is this; the leading option could possible make me the biggest dork this side of the Mississippi.
Sleep Apnea is a problem where the back of your tongue and some other shit, gets in the way of you breathing at night. As you kinda choke and don't get enough oxygen, you wake up to breath. But you only wake up enough to gasp for air, not fully wake out of sleep. Thus it doesn't allow you to get your full rest from the REM stage of sleep. (The fourth stage, incase you actually care.) During the first study I woke out of my REM sleep fourteen times per hour. I got an average of 4 minutes of real sleep at one time. This happened over a 6-hour period. Needless to say, this is why I was waking up tired as hell.
After having the first sleep study and then seeing the doctor, I got diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. Now here's the funny part, to alleviate Sleep Apnea, you can do a few different things. First, and probably the easiest, you can get a CPAP machine. Second you can have surgery on the back of the throat area. Some shit about removing some of the skin back there. Third, I could have surgery to have my jaw moved forward. Have my tongue somehow screwed into the bottom of my mouth, and then be in traction for 4 weeks. And lastly, I could loose some weight. But with the jaw surgery, I could get the bonus of not being able to eat, and thus loosing some weight.
Now I have to wait to hear from the Doctor to see where we are going next. And as of right now, I'm trying to lose some weight, so maybe that will make it a little easier on me.
