I got some bad fish while eating out. It was an expensive meal of black sea bass and they sent the manager to our table. He explained how they marinade the raw fish in a cooked fish fumet or fish stock. I recall when I was young and worked in a restaurant you weren't allowed to cross contaminate by mixing raw and cooked proteins. The dude wasn't getting it and I wouldn't eat any more of it. He didn't take it off our bill either. Of course we're not going back.
I wonder how often our food is fucked with by accident and deliberately.
Do you folks believe the "piss in the pickle bucket" stories?
Have any of you ever thought you've gotten food poisoning? Have any of you know for a fact you've gotten food poisoning?
I realize restaurant workers don't make jack for pay, but we still have to be served food that's safe to eat.
If I got food poisoning I probably wouldn't even notice.
Happened to me the other day with some pistachios. Tasted like acid and it had a lingering effect that lasted for hours. Called the company who made them and they sent me 2 free coupons and 2 coupons with a dollar off.
The biggest problem are untraind, unexpereaced workers! Underpaied as well! Just because most of us customers want everything as cheap as possible. I allways tell my employes not to sell anything you wouldnt eat by yourselv. Good steak for good money.
