Body camera and surveillance footage of an officer involved shooting that left a 40-year-old man dead in his New Orleans East apartment earlier this month was released by police officials Tuesday (May 28). The NOPD released the footage Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. After the video was shown to media, they briefly discussed the content of the video and where the investigation stands. According to the NOPD, the officers Stephen Jones, Kevin Nguyen and Wayne Lewis will all be put back on street by week’s end as the shooting has been deemed justifiable. Donald Davis, 40, was killed in the shooting. Police claim Davis screamed, "shoot me, I dare you" before firing his weapon at the officers first. The NOPD responded to an officer in distress call when officers discovered one person was killed by NOPD officers, according to NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson. The incident happened in the 6800 block of Parc Brittany Boulevard in New Orleans East. Show more
